Under the leadership of Carol O'Leary, John Fruncek, and Jim Gill, our racially and economically diverse garden team is bringing our gardens into incredible bountifulness!
But we are not finished. We need your help. Our garden beds need to be reconstructed with both metal and wood that will stand the test of time. We need your help so that we can keep our garden of free food to help the people in and around our Sanctuary.

At our interfaith garden blessing numerous expressions of blessings have been offered. What better place to create a solidarity community than our gardens. The produce is shared all around, especially with guests of our ministries.
The gardens reverse the condition of undernutrition and food scarcity of many neighborhood residents.
The fresh produce reverses the toxicity of lead contamination in high levels among the people we serve. Hats off to the dedicated intergenerational garden team intergenerational garden team members!
The Green Space adjacent to our building has been developed with raised garden beds and a pavilion for summer concerts and other performances. However, we are not finished. We are planning on having murals in this area along with African American totem poles that will showcase some of the art that is also representative of the culture in the city. We have a food pod with canned and packaged food that we use to distribute during our doorway ministry. Picnic tables, garden beds and mini-libraries have been built and will be restored in this area.
The City of Milwaukee has sold to MBHS the lots at 2652-2658 N. 24th Place, eastwards across the street from the Sanctuary and we are "farming” those lots. This is a collaboration with Groundworks Milwaukee and MSOE. To date, 24 large raised garden beds are being prepared for planting. Because MBHS is located in a "food desert," food production is among our priorities, bringing with it the many aspects which are life-saving and have a firm grip on sustainability.
